{"id":19798,"date":"2017-12-11T14:18:40","date_gmt":"2017-12-11T13:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=19798"},"modified":"2017-12-11T14:18:40","modified_gmt":"2017-12-11T13:18:40","slug":"husband-impregnated-another-woman-says-divorce-seeking-wife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/husband-impregnated-another-woman-says-divorce-seeking-wife\/","title":{"rendered":"My Husband Impregnated Another Woman, Says Divorce-Seeking Wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 36-year-old petty trader, Mrs Elizabeth Shofunde, who claimed that her husband impregnated another woman, on Monday prayed an Igando Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Shofunde told the court that her husband, Babatunde, abandoned his matrimonial home to live with the woman.<\/p>\n<p>The mother of three submitted that she was fed up with the 11-year union because of Babatunde\u2019s behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy husband abandoned us after he impregnated another woman; it is now three years he left us; he refused to pay the children\u2019s school fees and house rent,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth added that Babatunde battered her and refused to give her money for feeding the family.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, Babatunde is a drunk.<\/p>\n<p>Responding, Babatunde did not deny the allegations but said that Elizabeth\u2019s attitude pushed him to another woman.<\/p>\n<p>He consented to the dissolution of the marriage, saying that he was also fed up with the union.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\u201cMy wife made life unbearable for me, and the frustration made me impregnate another woman,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The 38-year-old furniture maker said that his wife always threatened him with dangerous weapons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhenever we are fighting, Elizabeth brings out a knife or bottle to stab me but I always escape,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a domestic accident and was admitted to a hospital. Elizabeth only called me on phone and did not visit me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of that, I stopped giving her money.<\/p>\n<p>The respondent added his wife denied him sex for one year.<\/p>\n<p>The court President, Mr Moses Akinniyi, adjourned the case until Dec. 18 for judgment.
