{"id":18240,"date":"2017-10-16T21:52:20","date_gmt":"2017-10-16T20:52:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=18240"},"modified":"2017-10-16T21:52:20","modified_gmt":"2017-10-16T20:52:20","slug":"domestic-violence-others-rise-100-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/domestic-violence-others-rise-100-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"Domestic Violence, Others Rise Above 100% In Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"m_1237422052531874108yMail_cursorElementTracker_1508170289949\" dir=\"ltr\">Alternate Chairman of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT), Omotilewa Ibirogba, <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1950634865\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Monday<\/span><\/span> said the State had, as at Friday last week, recorded 950 reported cases of domestic, sexual violence, and child abuse.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m_1237422052531874108yMail_cursorElementTracker_1508170327226\" dir=\"ltr\">This is more than 100 percent increase from a total of 452 similar reported cases in the whole of last year, according to her, adding that 10 offenders had been registered and convicted.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m_1237422052531874108yMail_cursorElementTracker_1508170540131\" dir=\"ltr\">Ibirogba made the revelations in Alausa during the unveiling of 6820 USSD and SMS short code, launched by the the State government, to enable Lagosians report and receive prompt response to incidents of rape, child abuse and domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m_1237422052531874108yMail_cursorElementTracker_1508170793763\" dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0&#8220;The team obtained approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission to have a short code for reporting incidences of sexual abuse, child abuse and domestic violence in the State.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m_1237422052531874108yMail_cursorElementTracker_1508170766281\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Simply by dialling *6820# or sending an SMS to 6820 with a keyword, e.g, child abuse, users will be fed information on steps to take for the responsible active case.
