The management of Heritage Bank, on Sunday denied reports that it is under investigation by the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N13 billion fraud. The money according to media reports belonged to the Oyo State government.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the bank\u2019s management stated \u201ccategorically and unequivocally that neither the Managing Director Mr. Ifie Sekibo nor any member of the management staff of the bank is being investigated by the EFCC on a N13billion fraud.<\/p>\n

\u201cContrary to the false report released by Sunday Punch Newspaper and other online news platforms, the EFCC had informed the bank of an account (not related to OYO state government as likewise verified by the Punch Newspaper via the State\u2019s Finance Commissioner) being investigated by the agency,\u201d Heritage Bank noted.<\/p>

It assured that \u201cover the last week, the bank has fully cooperated with EFCC by providing various documentation and also presented its staff in this regard,\u201d describing the report as \u201cdistasteful, unethical and unprofessional of these media houses to tarnish the image of Mr Ifie Sekibo MD\/CEO and the bank.\u201d<\/p>\n
