{"id":16017,"date":"2017-07-29T13:06:12","date_gmt":"2017-07-29T12:06:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=16017"},"modified":"2017-07-29T13:06:12","modified_gmt":"2017-07-29T12:06:12","slug":"niger-govt-gives-n30m-relief-materials-victims-suleja-tafa-local-govts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/niger-govt-gives-n30m-relief-materials-victims-suleja-tafa-local-govts\/","title":{"rendered":"Niger govt gives out N30m Relief Materials to Victims of Suleja, Tafa Local Govts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">The 37-year old Man , Malam Saadu Abubakar who lost his two Wives and Six Children to the recent Suleja flood disaster may soon heave a sigh of relief following the announcement by the state government to donate N4million to him as a relief package, with each dead person in his family attracting N500, 000.00 payment \u00a0.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">This is in addition to the sum of \u00a0N200,000 cash given to him separately by the government to cushion the effects of the hardship on him and to start a new life after being rendered homeless by \u00a0the unfortunate natural disaster which demolished his Five rooms apartment along sides \u00a0other \u00a0personal effects by the flood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">The government also stated \u00a0that \u00a0the \u00a0remaining six bereaved families who lost their relations to the flood disaster at both Suleja and Tafa local governments would be given the sum of N500,000 each for the loss of their loved ones, which brings the total donations to the 14 confirmed dead persons to N7million by the state government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">\u00a0The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Malam Ahmed Ibrahim Inga stated this at the symbolic presentations of relief materials and cash gifts \u00a0worth N30million to the \u00a0victims of the recent flood disaster in both Suleja and Tafa local governments of the state last weekend to cushion the effects of the hardships inflicted \u00a0on the people and in fulfillment of \u00a0the state government\u2019s earlier promise to alleviate their sufferings .<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">\u00a0The symbolic presentations of the relief materials and cash gifts to the victims of the flood disaster in both local governments were food items, soup ingredients clothing materials and building materials \u00a0among others \u00a0was done on Thursday July 20, 2017\u00a0 by the NSEMA Boss, \u00a0Malam Ahmed Ibrahim Inga \u00a0on behalf of the state governor, \u00a0Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello \u00a0at the premises of the \u00a0Government Secondary School Suleja .<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">The two Councils were also represented by Messrs. Abdullahi\u00a0 Shuaibu Maje and\u00a0 Samuel K.\u00a0 Yaro, Chairman Suleja Local Government and the Vice Chairman, Tafa\u00a0 Local \u00a0Government, including the Wambai of Suleja , a traditional title holder who represented the Emir of Suleja, Mallam Awwal Ibrahim respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">And \u00a0\u00a0the relief materials include 200 bags of rice, 200 bags of maize including 120jerycans of 25litres palm oil and vegetable oil, 100 bags of 10kgsemovita, 50bags of 10kg salt and 100catorns of Maggi cubes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">And among the building materials given to the surviving victims and the bereaved relations of those who perished in the flood disaster \u00a0were 300bags of Cement, 200bundles of Zink, 100bags of\u00a0 Zink nails \u00a0and cash donations of N7millions, with the Nigerian Army Day Command \u00a0Secondary School\u00a0 Suleja \u00a0receiving the sum of N3.5millions for the re-construction of its collapsed fence .<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">Also, the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Day Secondary School Suleja, Col. Abdulmumini A. Ahmed\u00a0 collected the sum of N3.5million on behalf of the school for the reconstruction of its collapsed fence by \u00a0the recent \u00a0flood disaster at the Council Area .<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">Receiving the money on behalf of the \u00a0School, the Army Colonel thanked the state government for their kind gestures and promised that the school\u2019s Management would make judicious use of the money given to him on their behalf .<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">He also stressed \u00a0that \u00a0the Nigerian Army Headquarters, \u00a0Abuja would augment the balance of the reconstruction works at the school in view of the fact that the N3.5million was inadequate for the construction of the collapsed fence of the school..<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">Inga, however enjoined the victims to regard the unfortunate flood disaster and the attendant deaths and destructions of property in its wake as an act of God , adding that the government can only ameliorate their sufferings with the presentation of the relief materials and cash gifts but that the government cannot adequately compensate the victims.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">He\u00a0\u00a0 urged \u00a0the victims to look unto God for His blessings that added no sorrow , just as he sympathize with them over their human and material losses on behalf of the government and people of the state .<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">Inga thereby \u00a0assured the two Council Bosses and the people of\u00a0 the \u00a0assistance of the Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency{NEMA }very soon \u00a0which he also \u00a0said has also promised to bring relief materials to both Suleja and Tafa Local Governments\u00a0\u00a0 as part of their own contributions to the victims of the flood disaster in the two Council Areas .<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">Meanwhile, the Chairman, Suleja Local Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje while \u00a0speaking on behalf of the two Councils,\u00a0expressed\u00a0 deep appreciation to the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello for his prompt intervention and presentation of the multi-million naira relief assistance\u00a0to the two affected Councils , while praying to God to avert recurrence of such incidence in the nearest future .<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">He also promised that the himself and his counterpart from Tarfa Loca Government will ensure strict adherence to Rules and Regulations of the Urban Development Board in the construction of residential and commercial buildings within the councils \u00a0very soon as well as embarking on the demolition of houses built on the flood plains and river channels in the councils areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7794601156MsoNormal\">Maje said any building that is seeing to be obstructing free flow of rivers and flood would be demolished while the officials of the state\u2019s Urban Development Board to build houses on river channels or flood plains would be recommended for sanctions by the state government in order to
