Hearing on the case involving suspected kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike also known as Evans has been further adjourned till 27th<\/sup> July 2017.<\/p>\n

The case, a N300m fundamental rights enforcement suit was filed against the Inspector-General of Police by the suspected kidnaper still in custody.<\/p>\n

The case suffered a setback when Justice Chuka Obiozor declined entertaining it on Thursday on the basis that Evans\u2019 lawyer, Mr. Olukoya Ogungbeje, was yet to pay the punitive cost of N20,000 awarded against him at the last adjourned date.<\/p>\n

Justice Abdulaziz Anka, who awarded the punitive cost against Ogungbeje on July 13, had said the lawyer would not be given audience in court until he paid the N20,000 to the police.<\/p>\n

Same Thursday, counsel for the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Effiong Asuquo, noted that Ogungbeje gave him a post-dated cheque for N20,000 but he rejected it, saying that was not the order of court.<\/p>\n

Justice Obiozor agreed with the police lawyer and directed Ogungbeje to comply with the cost order on the cost awarded against him.<\/p>\n

The judge also directed Ogungbeje to ensure service of the application on the Inspector-General of Police in Abuja.<\/p>

The police officer said like many other Nigerians, he wakes up each morning to read different false stories on social media relating to how the kidnapper was arrested.<\/p>\n

Onwuamadike had terrorized some parts of Nigeria where he had kidnapped several victims and realized ransoms in terms of several hundreds of millions.<\/p>\n
