{"id":13673,"date":"2017-05-26T14:46:24","date_gmt":"2017-05-26T13:46:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=13673"},"modified":"2017-05-26T14:46:24","modified_gmt":"2017-05-26T13:46:24","slug":"we-will-meet-revenue-target-customs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/we-will-meet-revenue-target-customs\/","title":{"rendered":"We will meet revenue target \u2013 Customs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"blog-post-title\">Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area I Command, Port Harcourt, \u00a0Mr. Kabiru Isiyaku, said the command is optimistic that it will meet its N33.3 billion revenue target for the year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry clearfix\">\n<p>Isiyaku stated this on Friday in\u00a0Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe revenue we collected in the first quarter of 2017 is more than what was collected in the first quarter of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur revenue estimate for each month is N2.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the month of January 2017 we collected N1.5 billion, \u00a0February was \u00a0N1.9 billion and March was N6.8 billion;\u00a0 almost N10 billion was collected for the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019We are expected to collect about seven billion naira but we collected about N10 billion so we have surpassed our target for the first quarter of 2017,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Isiyaku attributed the first quarter performance to capacity-building and hard work of officers of the command.<\/p>\n<p>He said 100 per cent physical examination of cargoes had enabled NCS to identify some classification issues and valuation and raised demand notice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has helped us in meeting revenue collection in the first quarter,\u201d he said.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Isiyaku, however, said the depth of the Rivers ports had robbed the command of huge amount of money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I am sure that we will meet our revenue target of N33.3 billion since we have surpassed our revenue target in the first quarter of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe challenge we have at the wharf is the depth of the sea; it can only accommodate only about 25-tonne or 26-tonne vessels.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019You can see that it is affecting the number of vessels coming to berth in this Sea Port,\u201d Isiyaku said.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that Central Bank of Nigeria\u2019s policy which removed importers of 41 items from accessing from obtaining foreign exchange (FOREX) through the official market had affected importation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe importers must have FOREX before they can do importation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur responsibility is to collect revenue; to bring in the cargo is outside the jurisdiction of NCS,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/p><!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area I Command, Port Harcourt, \u00a0Mr. Kabiru Isiyaku, said the command is optimistic that it will meet its N33.3 billion revenue target for the year.
