Most of\u00a0the segments in the animation industry are growing at the\u00a0rate of 10% Year over Year, and some segments are growing at\u00a015% Year on Year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-3622943657609264555ydp2d5c07c8MsoNormal\">\u201dThe\u00a0output value of global animation industry has reached over\u00a0US$300 billion, and animation related derivatives have\u00a0exceeded US$500 billion. The animation industry has\u00a0gradually become a pillar of the national economy and a new\u00a0economic growth engine in some countries,\u2019\u2019 he\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-3622943657609264555ydp2d5c07c8MsoNormal\">\u00a0Alhaji\u00a0Mohammed said Nigeria, and indeed Africa, must move to grab\u00a0a share of the pie by tapping into the animation boom,\u00a0adding that Nigeria, in particular, has all the ingredients\u00a0for a successful animation industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-3622943657609264555ydp2d5c07c8MsoNormal\">\u00a0\u201d(Nigeria)\u00a0has a ready domestic audience and market. Nigeria has about\u00a086.2 million people online, and that\u2019s 46.1% of the\u00a0population, ranking it number one in Africa and number seven\u00a0in the world. It has 44 million TV viewing homes in the\u00a0country. These demographics amply demonstrate that the\u00a0uptake of animated content is already guaranteed,\u2019\u2019 he\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-3622943657609264555ydp2d5c07c8MsoNormal\">\u00a0The\u00a0Minister also said the Nigerian film industry, ranked third\u00a0in the world; the possession of a\u00a0treasure\u00a0trove of literature, brimming with exciting classics such as\u00a0a Forest of a Thousand Daemons,\u2026The Lion and the Jewel,\u00a0The Passport of Mallam Illia and Things Fall Apart, and the\u00a0fact that\u00a0the\u00a0country has an English-speaking workforce, provide added\u00a0advantage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-3622943657609264555ydp2d5c07c8MsoNormal\">\u00a0He\u00a0said the\u00a0current\u00a0administration is committed to developing the\u00a0animation\/creative industry into a new growth sector by\u00a0promoting Nigeria\u2019s creativity, and creating a\u00a0highly-skilled workforce for the industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-3622943657609264555ydp2d5c07c8MsoNormal\">\u00a0\u201dAlready,\u00a0it has created a programme called N-POWER CREATIVE, a job\u00a0creation and empowerment initiative by the Federal\u00a0Government of Nigeria for the purpose of training and\u00a0encouraging the development of creative and technological\u00a0skills in young Nigerians such as animation, graphic\u00a0illustration, script writing, storytelling, sequential arts,\u00a0and post production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-3622943657609264555ydp2d5c07c8MsoNormal\">\u201dWith\u00a0such skills, young Nigerians will be able to find employment\u00a0in the ever-growing creative and animation industry.
