{"id":13023,"date":"2017-05-10T15:35:17","date_gmt":"2017-05-10T14:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=13023"},"modified":"2017-05-10T15:35:17","modified_gmt":"2017-05-10T14:35:17","slug":"ogbc-workers-begin-indefinite-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/ogbc-workers-begin-indefinite-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"OGBC workers begin indefinite strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Workers in Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation in Abeokuta on Wednesday started an indefinite strike over unpaid four months\u2019 salaries.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>News Agency of Nigeria<\/em> gathered that the workers arrived at the station around 5:00 a.m and locked the studio and offices to prevent the general manager and top management staff from having access to their offices.<\/p>\n<p>The workers, who were led by Mr Abiodun Ogundipe, Chairman, the Nigeria Union of Journalists and Mr Ayo Aina, Chairman, Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers had issued a three-day warning to the management to pay the salaries.<\/p>\n<p>Ogundipe told NAN that there was no going back on the strike until their demands were met.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the state Head of Service, Mr Abayomi Sobande, had visited the workers and appealed to them, promising that something would be done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSobande said we should allow for skeletal services pending the time they would get back to us before the close of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not going back on the strike. The strike has not been suspended; we will continue until our demands are met, \u201che said.<\/p>\n<p><em>NAN<\/em> reports that the workers, had during a press conference on Friday, threatened an indefinite strike from Wednesday over non-payment of outstanding salaries.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>The workers said that in spite of issuing three different notices to the management; nothing was done to pay the outstanding salaries.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the arrears of salaries, the workers are also claiming that some pension deductions from 2012 till date totalling about N50 million had not been remitted.<\/p>\n<p>The workers said deductions to the National Housing Fund of over N2 million were not remitted.<\/p>\n<p>The workers, however, commended Gov.
