The National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party being led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi has called on Nigerians to come out and register in the forthcoming Continuous Voters Registration.<\/p>\n

It said the registration would be an opportunity to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2019.<\/p>\n

It also called on the management of the Independent National Electoral Commission to remain neutral during the exercise, which opens nationwide on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The main opposition party, therefore, urged all citizens who did not register in the last exercise especially and those that have turned 18 years, to come out en masse and register to vote in the 2019 General Elections.<\/p>\n

It reminded them that since their registration is the only assurance that makes them eligible to vote, they should take the exercise seriously.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson for the caretaker committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, who stated these in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, said Nigerians who had been complaining about the running of the country, would be able to elect new leaders.<\/p>

The statement said, \u201cWe want to inform Nigerians that this is an opportunity for those who are suffering and undergoing the suffocating hardship, poverty, hunger, comatose economy, insecurity, crass ineptitude, gagging of the press and opposition leaders and members, and more atrocities; to get registered in order to vote out this none performing APC-led Administration at all levels.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe enjoin INEC to remain neutral, independent and unbiased and allow all potential voters in the 774 local government areas in the Country irrespective of their political leaning, gender, tribe or religion to participate in the forthcoming Continous Voters Registration Exercise.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe insist that INEC must avoid a repeat of the 2014 episode where majority of Nigerians were disenfranchised.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Commission should allow the distribution of Permanent Voters Card evenly to all zones of the Federation.\u201d<\/p>\n
