Mohammed, Somalia\u2019s first female presidential candidate Fadumo Dayib, Gambia\u2019s doyen of democratic change, Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the South African Olympic gold medalist Caster Semenya and her fellow countrywoman, former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, are some of the names that made the final list from the thousands of nominations received.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the pan-African bi-monthly,\u00a0New African Woman\u00a0magazine, the Awards \u2013 which celebrate and honour exceptional African women who have made a positive impact and contributions in their communities, and the continent at large, in the past 12 months \u2013 take place on the eve of the\u00a0New African Woman Forum, which takes place at Dakar\u2019s Terrou-Bi Hotel on\u00a013 April.<\/p>\n<p>The New African Woman Awards and Forum,\u00a0first held in London in March last year, under the theme\u00a0\u201cChanging The Game\u201d,\u00a0were born from the ethos that launched\u00a0New African Woman\u00a0magazine nine years ago: to boldly and positively highlight, share and represent African women\u2019s issues, on the premise that women are an indispensable element in Africa\u2019s growth story, and to celebrate the women contributing to that change.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Woman Awards Nigerian author, Chaiamada Ngozi Adichie has made the nomination list of the\u00a0New African Woman Awards 2017.
