Armed robbers suspected to have robbed Crawford\u2019s University vice chancellor, Professor Rotimi Ajayi in Igbesa Ogun state have been arrested.<\/p>\n

The V.C. was robbed of his Toyota Highlander Jeep, 5 phones, an IPAD and money along Atan-Igbesa road on January 27, 2017.<\/p>\n

The incident was immediately reported and FSARS operative began to trail the hoodlums since then. Their effort paid off when the operatives received a vital information about their hide-out in Seme border and the place was stormed<\/p>\n

The suspects in the bid to resisting arrest, engaged the operatives in a gun duel which lasted for about an hour before four of them were apprehended.<\/p>\n

Adewale Rasaq, 27yrs, Keneth Ohimai, 38yrs, Segun Idike, 19yrs and Hassan Mussa, 25yrs were arrested while the fifth, Joseph Housus who escaped with gun wound was later arrested at Ajase in Benin Republic where he went for treatment.<\/p>\n

Efforts are ongoing to extradite him back to Nigeria.<\/p>

Recovered from them are four pump action guns, one locally made pistol and 30 live cartridges.<\/p>\n

On interrogation, they confessed being the syndicate that robbed the V.C. and that the Toyota Jeep was sold in Republic of Benin.<\/p>\n

When the Ogun State police command public relation officer, ASP. Abimbola Oyeyemi was contacted, he confirmed that the suspects have been arrested.<\/p>\n

“We are working in conjunction with the security agents in Benin Republic for possible recovery of the VC’s vehicle that was stolen and efforts are ongoing to bring back to Nigeria the suspect that was apprehended in Benin Republic.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has commended the gallantry display of the FSARS men and advised them not to relax on their oars until the state is rid of crime and criminality. He equally appealed to the members of the Public not to relent on their efforts in giving necessary information to the police in order to have a crime free society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
