The deposed emir of Borgu Chiefdom,\u00a0 Alhaji Ishyaku Jikantoro is dead.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Aged 67, the late emir died Wednesday\u00a0 at Bay Specialist hospital in Minna at about 12.noon .<\/p>\n

The deceased was said to have battled with diabetics for some time. His condition, according to an emirate source worsened Tuesday night leading to his being rushed to the hospital where he later died.<\/p>\n

His remains has been taken to New Bussa where it will be interred on Thursday according to Islamic rites.<\/p>\n

He was married\u00a0 with one wife and blessed with seven children.<\/p>

Late Ishyaku Jikantoro emerged the emir of Borgu in 2000 but late Senator Haliru \u00a0Dantoro challenged the process leading to his appointment.<\/p>\n

The litigation lingered up to the Supreme court where his selection was declared illegal.<\/p>\n

He was subsequently deposed and banished to Rijau local government area of the state and late Senator Haliru Dantoro succeeded him as the emir of Borgu in 2004.<\/p>\n

The deceased was one of the delegates from Niger state to the National constitutional Conference in Abuja after which he was appointed a permanent commissioner in the Niger state Pilgrims Welfare Commission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
