{"id":10750,"date":"2017-02-07T12:33:11","date_gmt":"2017-02-07T11:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=10750"},"modified":"2017-02-07T12:33:11","modified_gmt":"2017-02-07T11:33:11","slug":"police-in-niger-arrest-195-rustlers-recover-612-cattle-assorted-arms-ammunition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/police-in-niger-arrest-195-rustlers-recover-612-cattle-assorted-arms-ammunition\/","title":{"rendered":"Police in Niger arrest 195 rustlers, recover 612 cattle, assorted arms, ammunition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Olabode Adaramola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Niger state Police command have\u00a0 recorded a major success in restoring law and order in some parts of the state with the\u00a0 arrest of 195 suspects who have been unleashing terror on the residents of the state in recent times among whom were\u00a0 suspected kidnappers, cattle rustlers and other sundry\u00a0 criminals.<\/p>\n<p>The State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji\u00a0 Zubairu Muazu while parading the suspects before\u00a0 the newsmen on Monday at the State Police Command Headquarters,\u00a0\u00a0Minna , said some communities in the Niger East Senatorial District had suffered several heavy attacks in the hands of the suspects and some of their fleeing accomplice in crime in the last one month in the\u00a0 forms of\u00a0 either cattle rustling and kidnappings for commercial purposes.<\/p>\n<p>He stated further that following\u00a0 &#8220;aerial and land operations&#8221; carried out by Officers and Men of the Command , not less than 194 suspects were arrested from their hideouts in\u00a0 various locations during the January 2017\u00a0 operations alone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The police in collaboration with sister security agencies took the battle to the dens of armed bandits in Allawa, Kukoki, Pandogari, Isau, Kaffinkoro, Sarkin- Pawa, Shiroro, Mangoro, Lapai and Gurara.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The aerial surveillance and ground raids culminated into the harvest of arrests and recovery of assorted weapons, said the CP&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The Police Boss,\u00a0said among those arrested were &#8220;24 most wanted kidnappers and cattle rustlers&#8221; while about 612 cattle recovered from the suspects had since\u00a0been handed over to their rightful\u00a0owners.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Accordingly, he said, weapons recovered from the suspects were 5 AK riffles 648 rounds of live ammunition,\u00a021 single barrel guns with 248 live\u00a0cartridges, one revolver riffle and five revolver short guns.<\/p>\n<p>Others he said,\u00a0were 6 made in Ghana\u00a0pistols, one locally made pistol, nine Dane guns and other dangerous\u00a0weapons such as axes, bows\u00a0and arrows, including\u00a0assorted knives.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0CP said that a man suspected to be giving treatment to injured cattle rustlers and a box containing some drugs and other medical equipment were\u00a0also recovered.<\/p>\n<p>He stated further that 21victims were rescued from the criminals hale and hearty while some others were rescued injured.<\/p>\n<p>The police commissioner\u00a0however advised members of\u00a0the public \u201cto remain calm and stop peddling rumours&#8221; saying the police would always track down any criminal in the state.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Olabode Adaramola The Niger state Police command have\u00a0 recorded a major success in restoring law and order in some parts of the state with the\u00a0 arrest of 195 suspects who have been unleashing terror on the residents of the state in recent times among whom were\u00a0 suspected kidnappers, cattle rustlers and other sundry\u00a0 criminals.
