{"id":10495,"date":"2017-01-23T15:12:28","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T14:12:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=10495"},"modified":"2017-01-23T15:12:28","modified_gmt":"2017-01-23T14:12:28","slug":"30-ex-senior-police-officers-sue-buhari-attorney-general-over-influenced-retirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/30-ex-senior-police-officers-sue-buhari-attorney-general-over-influenced-retirement\/","title":{"rendered":"30 ex-senior police officers sue Buhari, Attorney-General over \u2018influenced\u2019 retirement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thirty senior police officers who retired in 2016 have challenged their retirement at the National Industrial Court, Abuja, insisting the force was \u201cinfluenced\u201d to retire them.<\/p>\n<p>The officers sought the powers of the court to interpret certain parts of the constitution binding on the Police Service Commission and its retirement processes.<\/p>\n<p>The officers sued the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Attorney-General, and the Inspector-General of Police for what they call an \u201cinfluenced\u201d retirement.<\/p>\n<p>Also joined as co-defendants in the suit are the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force.<\/p>\n<p>The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, while in an acting capacity allegedly wrote to the Presidency to retire 30 senior officers.<\/p>\n<p>It was also alleged that the officers, who were from the rank of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of police, were eventually retired at the instance of the IGP.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Counsel to the officers, Mr J. U.
