Cracked Police detectives attached to Mokwa Division of the Nigeria Police Force , under the Niger State Command, have arrested two suspected criminals with 16 bags of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa i.e. Indian Hemps.
The Image Maker of the State Police Public Command, DSP Wasiu Abidoun, stated this in a Press statement issued s by him and made available to the Newsmen in Minna,adding that Police Operatives attached to the Mokwa Division had on September 6, 2023, at about 00:10 hrs, received credible intelligence, which led to the arrest of the two suspects.
The suspects, according to him, were Auta Umar Sayu, 25 years old, and Mohammed Bala, 52 years old, both of them claimed to be from Mokwa.
Abiodun stated further that the first suspect, Auta Umar Saidu was intercepted and arrested at Muwo village near Mokwa allegedly during an attempt to ferry 16 bags of Indian Hemp to Ndayako village in Mokwa LGA of the State
The statement added that Auta had, during interrogation, allegedly confessed to have been sent by one Bala to receive the bags of the illicit items from one Lawal who was said to have brought the items from Ondo State, stressing he took the delivery while Lawal left.
The suspect was further quoted to have said that Bala, was later arrested while both of them allegedly confessed that the bags were for sale, hilighting further that they were in the illicit business together for about eight months.
