The leader of the criminal gang who operates in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Taofeek Abayomi Oladiran has been arrested.
The 26 years old man was arrested while others escaped through different directions into the crowded areas along Akala, Idi-Oro axis.
The Anti- Crime patrol team from Mushin Police Division had on August 16, 2019, around10:45 pm intercepted one Honda motorcycle with registration number AKM 300 VJ, red in colour along ogunmokun Street Mushin.
The motorcycle was conveying four persons reasonably suspected to be members of a gang of armed robbers terrorizing Mushin and its environ.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, the gang was responsible for the series of robberies reported in the area with the same mode of operation of using motorbikes for easy access to escape routes after their evil operations.
“They take advantage of traffic situations and dispossessed unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables such as handsets, laptops, bags and money. When the rider was saw the team, he increased his speed and refused to stop but was given a hot chase and was eventually apprehended.
“The motorcycle was recovered. One bag containing a locally made pistol, one expended cartridge, eleven live cartridges, a jacket decorated with charms, was recovered.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) has taken over the case and have launched a manhunt for the three fleeing suspects whom has been identified as Afeez, Micheal and Tolu.
