Police Bust Syndicate Stealing From Bank

Operatives of Zonal Monitoring Unit of Zone 2 Command, Onikan have arrested five persons who specialised in stealing and transferring funds from people’s account through their SIM Cards.

The suspects identified as Daniel Asigbe, 25, Ikechukwu Aigbe, 25, Frank Opara, 21, Seun Dairo, 19,
Goodness Ndukwe, 19, a Female.

Disclosing the arrest, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Hauwa Idris Adamu, said that one of them, Daniel Asigbe, on 20th of June, 2020 stole a Samsung X9 from a barber’s shop in Lekki area of Lagos.

He later removed the SIM card and gave it to Ikechukwu who fraudulently got the owner’s BVN and sent same to one Yele (male) and currently at large. Yele later generated the account PIN number and gave it back to Ikechukwu.

Having sufficiently got details of account, Ikechukwu went ahead to transfer N2,300,000 from the account to the third accomplice’s Seun Dairo’s account. Besides, he also purchased N20,000 worth of airtime from the account.

Meanwhile, Seun had given his ATM card to one Frank Opara apparently for another deal.

DSP Hauwa, therefore advised members of the public to quickly report cases of loss of Mobile Phones or other valuable adding that investigation was in progress as suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
