Police Arrest Lawmaker For Alleged Murder

Honourable Alhassan Ado Garba Doguwa, a member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency has been arrested by the Police in Kano state for his alleged complicity in the gruesome murder of three persons, causing grievous injury to eight others in Tudun Wada Local Government Area on the 26th February, 2023.

The victims were killed during the collation of election results of Presidential and National Assembly Elections coupled with an alleged viral video of some victims with suspected gunshots in the Social Media, hence the Commissioner of Police in charge of 2023 General Election, Kano State Command, CP Muhammad Yakubu directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Kano State Police Command to carry out a thorough investigation.

As a result, based on ongoing investigation, on 27th February 2023, the Department extended a formal invitation to the lawmaker but he refused to honour the invitation.

Based on that, the Command was left with no other option than to deploy its detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bompai Kano and got him arrested at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano.

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command said investigation is ongoing as the arrested suspect would soon be charged to court for prosecution while those at large would be arrested to face the consequences of their actions.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has expressed his appreciation to the good people of Kano State for their peaceful conduct in maintaining law and order during the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

He used the opportunity to use the Command undaunted efforts to reiterates its commitment to safeguarding lives and properties of the ‘’Kanawan Dabo’’.

Accordingly, he noted, the CP has demonstrated his willingness to tame any subversive element(s) or actor(s) no matter how highly placed, if they are out to disrupt the existing peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed in the State.
