Obadiah Mailafia Dies At 64

 

Foremost government critic from the northern Nigeria and candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the 2019 election, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia has passed on.

Mailafia, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria had advocated for public sector and exchange rate reforms.

Born on Christmas eve of 1956 in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mailafia was at the top of his class at graduation at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned a B.Sc. in 1978.

He had Honours in the Social Sciences where he earned degrees in Politics, Economics, and Sociology. He also has an M.Sc. from his Alma Mater.

Mailafia would be missed for his contribution to the Nigerian politics and economy as well as advocacy for good governance and equity.
