
Niger Govt. Appeals to Mokwa/ Katcha Local Govts to embrace peace over disputed land matters

The Niger State Government has sent a passionate appeal to the warring Mokwa and Katcha Local Governments to sheath their swards, eschew violence and embrace peace in order to live peacefully with one another in in the overall interests of all concerned.
Making the appeal, was the state Acting Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso who doubles as the Chairman of the State Boundary Commission, shortly after meeting with the representatives of the two communities in dispute over land matters /water within Katcha town of Katcha Local Government of the State.
Ketso , said that the two warring communities have been directed to stay away from the areas in contention until an amicable resolution on the issue was reached by the warring parties.
He said that security agencies in the state have been alerted and directed to arrest any person or group of persons apprehended for causing trouble in the area.
The peace meeting, chaired by the State Acting Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso , was attended by two representatives each of the two sides of the area in dispute and some members of the State Executive Council
