As part of the ongoing operations to flush criminal elements terrorizing some parts of Lagos State metropolis, 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Ikeja Cantonment on Wednesday morning arrested no fewer than 101 suspected criminals in a sting operation.
It was learnt that the suspects have been terrorizing different parts of the state and engaging in illicit drug deals.
The joint operations carried out early today, 15th February, 2023 in Onigbogbo and Mushin area of Lagos state was in conjunction with operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Parading the suspects at the Exercise STILL WATERS camp in Osita area of Lagos, the Commander 9 Brigade, Ikeja Cantonment, Brigadier General Isangubong Akpaumontia assured Lagos residents of adequate security ahead of the coming General Elections in line with the objectives and focus of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt General Faruk Yahaya.
According to him, the military would make Lagos state uncomfortable for criminals except they repent and turn over a new leaf.
Among those arrested were five females. Assorted drugs recovered from their hideouts included cocaine, heroin, marijuana, off-white, tramadol and other dangerous drugs they craftily mixed with Zobo, a locally brewed juice.
It would be recalled that in the last three months, this is the third major raid carried out by the army in some parts of Lagos, arresting hundreds of suspects.
The last being a fortnight ago where 116 suspected criminals were arrested around Oshodi general area, recovery drugs and gun during the raid from the suspects.
