Many killed as gunmen invade Anambra Church

Unidentified gunmen today stormed St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ugwu Oye in Ozubulu Anambra State killing many and injuring several others.

The incidence has however caused pandemonium in the area while many are still in shock.

The state governor, Willie Obiano has visited the injured persons in the hospital.

The governor has also commiserated with the Church and families of the victims.

Meanwhile, Anambra State Police Commissioner, Garba Umar, said a lone gunman attacked St. Philip’s Catholic Church early Sunday.

But worshipers refuted the police account saying the death toll may be more. A parishioner Uche Nonoso told The Associated Press that two gunmen had attacked the Church Sunday morning. Nonso also reported that more than 15 were killed at the church while others died en route to the hospital.
