A 15-year-old girl, Asuquo Glory, that was the first to be apprehended, confessed that she was brought to Lagos some weeks ago and was handed over to one 25-year-old Ita Monica, who immediately tutored her on how to start the business.
Glory’s confession led to the arrest of other underage prostitutes who gave their names as Ita Bassey Destiny , 19 years old and the 18-year-old Effiong Bright.
One of the commercial sex workers who was among those arrested during the raid said she has no regret joining the profession which fetches her an average of N15,000 weekly.
Destiny, a mother of one, told journalists that she got into prostitution because there was no one to help as her father had died and her mother is in the village and everyone around her were only interested in helping their own children.
“It was through this business that I earn N15,000 a week from atleast three customers. I charge N1,000 per person and I have no regret about this,” Destiny confessed.
Investigations further led to the arrest of the prostitutes handlers and coordinators, Thomas Emmanuel, 29 years old and 34 years old Okon John.
