Mrs. Gladys Olubunmi Tejuoso
The first woman elected into the Osun State House of Assembly, Mrs. Gladys Olubunmi Tejuoso, has passed on.
Tejuoso, who passed on at 64, was a member of the Osun State House of Assembly between 1999 and 2003. She was the Chairman House services and deputy whip of the Assembly.
She is fondly remembered for the many bills she sponsored on Women and Child rights and her works in the empowerment of women in politics.
Prior to the return to democratic rule in 1999, Mrs. Tejuoso won the Local Government chairmanship election of Obokun Local Government area on the platform of UNCP before the Late Gen. Sani Abacha truncated the process and the swearing in.
To honour her, Osun State House of Assembly will hold a commendation sitting in Osogbo on 26th January by 10am.
Mrs. Tejuoso was married to Prince Lekan Tejuoso, a former Commissioner for Cooperatives and Community Development in Ogun State. She is survived by her husband, five children and eight grandchildren.
