—As Police Deploy 1,000 Personnel For Celebration In Lagos

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday and Wednesday, August 21 and 22 respectively, as Public Holidays to mark the 2018 Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
The Hon. Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, Ph.D, CFR who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government enjoined Nigerians to use the period to embrace the virtues of love and sacrifice for the unity and development of the nation.
While wishing Nigerians a happy celebration, he called on Nigerians both at home and abroad to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in its determination in ensuring a peaceful and united Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Imohimi Edgal, has directed the deployment of additional 1000 policemen for the upcoming Eid El Kabir holiday to boost the number of men designated for that purpose in the Command’s Operations Order.
This,according to the Command Image Maker, is to ensure a hitch free Sallah celebration through effective coverage of the prayer grounds, holiday spots and the neighbourhoods.
In a press release made available to our reporter by the PPRO,CSP Chike Oti, specialised units like the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), the Canine section (Police dogs), the Air support unit, Marine police and the Mounted troops (Horsemen ), have been activated and sufficiently mobilised to guarantee security during the holidays.
“The CP assures Lagosians that the Command is committed to their security before, during and after the holiday. He wishes Muslim faithfuls happy Eid El Kabir celebration and admonishes the city dwellers to be security conscious and enjoy moderately during the holiday.” The release quoted.
