The Councilor representing Ward 10 of Nembe Local Government area of Bayelsa State,Hon.Azibato Diete Johnson has tasked youths on Agricultural investment.
The Councilor gave the charge yesterday when he conducted Journalists round his no fewer than three hectares rice farm in the Azikoro area of Yenagoa, capital of the state.
Azibato reiterated the need for youths to channel their strength into productive activities, saying Bayelsa has the potentials of being food sufficient if youths take the Agricultural opportunities in the state seriously.
He hinted that upon his tight schedules as a lawmaker at the grassroot level of governance, he had still spared time to engage in farming not only to compliment government’s effort in the Agricultural sector, but to also generate supplementary income and food for himself,those working in the farm and others,owing to the economic realities occasioned partly due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He applauded the prosperity government of the state headed by Governor Douye Diri for appointing Chief David Alagoa,whom he described as an expert as Commissioner for Agriculture, saying that the Commissioner is breaking new grounds in the Agricultural sector of the state,as he has been a source of encouragement and role model.
The Councilor whom admirers have said rather than buying a car for his official assignment as lawmaker, has chosen empowering his constituents through various empowerment initiatives and programmes called on youths of the state to continue supporting the Governor Douye Diri’s prosperity administration,noting that the governor’s Agricultural empowerment programmes and others would change the State’s Economic landscape in no distance time.
“Instead of buying an official car for himself, this councilor chose to empower our youths through various programmes and projects.
“Look at his big rice farm. Do you know how many direct and indirect jobs this farm would create?
“Azibato is a hardworking, passionate councilor and he has done well”, some of his admirers who pleaded anonymity said.
