Auto Crash Claims 13 Lives In Niger

No fewer than thirteen persons have been killed  in an auto crash on Minna-Bida road, the Federal Roads Safety Commission, (FRSC) Niger State Sector Command stated this  yesterday.
Speaking with journalists in Minna, the Sector Commander,  Yusuf Garba, said the incident happened on December 16 along Gada-Eregi village.

He said that the  crash   involved 2 white Toyota hiace bus XK382ABJ and  XK 383 ADJ heading in opposite directions.

The Sector Commander said eye witnesses had alerted the command of the development,  resulting in quick deployment of personnel to the scene of the accident.

He  said that those injured were taken to the  Minna specialist Hospital for treatment, while the dead were taken to the same hospital mortuary .

He attributed the cause of the accident to reckless driving on the part of the drivers, adding that such driving habits were usually responsible for many road crashes exprienced across the Nation’s highways.
He said drivers especially commercial ones always take advantage of making more money during the festivities by needlessly overspeeding thereby endangering the lives of passengers.

The sector commander  called on road users to imbibe the spirit of  adhering to the  traffic rules and regulations to stay alive and safe while on wheel.
