…in a sweeping redeployment of AIGs to commands, formations
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on Saturday ordered the posting/redeployment of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to Departments, Commands, and Formations in line with his manpower development policy of fitting the right persons into appropriate roles.
In the posting announced by the Spokesperson, Nigerian Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed that the former Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, AIG Ari Mohammed Ali is now in charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan-Lagos while the former Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, AIG Frank Mba is to oversee the affairs of Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos.
CSP Adejobi further added that the redeployment is in line with the IGP’s mandate and strategies to strengthen the operational structures of commands, departments, and formations.
The following AIGs have also been posted/redeployed to the duty posts indicated against their names.
AIG Ahmed Abdulrahman, is now the AIG Zone 14 Katsina, AIG Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje, takes over as AIG Police Mobile Force; AIG Special Protection Unit will now be managed by AIG Matthew Akinyosola, while AIG Zone 12 Bauchi will be overseen by AIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi, who is moved from Zone 2 Command Onikan-Lagos.
Others include AIG Maritime, Lagos with AIG Yekini Adio Ayoku; AIG Zone 13, Ukpo Dunukofia will be overseen by AIG Olofu Tony Adejoh. Also, the new AIG Zone 7 Abuja is now AIG Aliyu Garba while AIG ICT FHQ Abuja will be under the command of AIG Idris Dabban Dauda.
Also redeployed are the AIG Research and Development, who wi be handled by AIG Yusuf Ahmed Usman while AIG Zone 4, Makurdi is under AIG Haladu M. Ros-Amson.
It was learnt that AIG Zone 8, Lokoja will be under the tutelage of AIG Babatunde B. Ishola, just AIG Counter Terrorism Unit will be manned by AIG Alexander N. Wannang while AIG Zone 9, Umuahia will henceforth be commanded by AIG Mamman Sanda Umar.

Also appointed are AIG Benjamin N. Okolo, as AIG Zone 16 , Yenagoa as AIG DTD FHQ Abuja goes to AIG Oyediran A. Oyeyemi; AIG FCID Annex Kaduna goes to AIG Babaji Sunday. The new AIG Zone 5, Benin is now AIG Arungwa Nwazue Udo as Force Transport Officer is now AIG Yusuf C. Usman.
The IGP has charged all newly posted and redeployed officers to put their best foot forward in ensuring that the activities of their new Commands, Formations, and Departments align with the Police Reform mandate. He also tasked them to ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures in the discharge of their responsibilities.
