A repeat of pipeline inferno that claimed scores of lives in Abule Egba area of Lagos December 26 2006 was recorded this morning when suspected vandals destroyed a petroleum pipeline causing large inferno in same Abule Egba area.
The fire that destroyed properties worth millions of Naira today
according to eye witnesses started at about 3:30am.
It was as a result of activities of pipeline vandals attempting to steal fuel, residents say.
A resident of the area that tweeted this morning posted that, “This fire is far too much! We need help of fire safety in Abule Egba and eviron. Right now….
Pls rebroadcast…. The whole area is on fire! https://t.co/S4zucwXVYv.”
Men of the fire service are already on ground combating the inferno.
Over 250 persons were burnt alive in 2006. Relevant government agencies should proffer a lasting solution to the mennace.
