A 46-Year-Old Arrested For Attempting To Bribe Police With N200,000

The Niger State Police Command has arrested one Samaila Jagaba, 46, with the sum of N200,000 as he attempted to bribe some policemen in order to seek the release of a notorious bandit.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu Abiodun said on Wednesday in Minna that Samaila Jagaba who hails from Kuduru village, Chukun Local Government Area of Kaduna State wanted to offer the gratification to secure the release of one Bala Bako, 35, a bandit of Gurkuchi village Chukun LGA from Kaduna State.

It was learnt that when Bako was arrested, he was in possession of a locally made pistol and one live cartridge.

The suspect was arrested on the 15th August, 2020 by some policemen who were on surveillance in Kwata market, Zumba village, Shiroro Local Government Area while Jagaba was arrested on Tuesday,
18th August, 2020 on a tip off.

While confessing to the crime, the suspect explained that he bought the pistol from an unidentified person in Wukoko village Chukun LGA Kaduna State.

ASP Abiodun, however, added that the case was undergoing discreet investigation and the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded
