Explosion In Iju-Elliot Lagos Suburb

Barely 30 hours after a petrol tanker exploded in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital killing over 20 persons including school children, another disaster has happened in Lagos Thursday afternoon when a  suspected gas explosion happened around Iju-Elliot area of the state.

According to people residing in the area, the sad incidence happened at about 1:15pm Thursday afternoon.

Iju-Elliot is the last junction between Lagos and Ogun State at the end of the ever busy Iju Road linking Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Areas and Agege area.

Many who reside in the Aga end of Ogun State in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State are more or less Lagos residence as they work and transact their daily business activities in Lagos State.

According to some eye witnesses, a vehicle conveying gas had exploded around the area and  people were seen running for safety as the fire raged after the explosion. Meanwhile there was no official information as at the time of the incidence and details of the disaster has not been compiled as at press time.
