Ambode At World Press Conference Fails To Answer Sensitive Questions

Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode said that he is ready to practice democracy and do everything to preach, practice democratic values.

Ambode gave the comment during a World Press Conference staged at Alausa, Ikeja Sunday afternoon.

The governor however declined a sensitive question thrown at him as to whether he would fight on for the governorship ticket of his All Progressives Party (APC) as the primary election is re-scheduled for Monday 1st October.

Ambode said, democracy must be practiced so that the coming generation may have something to meet.

“If we say we are democrats, let us practice democracy and its values to the end, that is what we must bequeath to the generations coming after us,” he said.

Declining questions that would have made much expected headlines, Ambode said, “These kind of questions you have asked I am not willing to answer them. The truth is that it is more about the progress and development of Nigeria, it is not about development and progress of Lagos.”

“I have done everything to make sure that those values are the values I preach and practice and God will help us.”

He however seized the opportunity to congratulate Nigerians on the 58th independence anniversary. “I congratulate Nigerians on the 58th independent anniversary and I pray we’ll remain happy for the rest of their lives,” he prayed.

The primary election of the APC earlier scheduled for Saturday 29th September has been rescheduled for Monday 1st October. Sunday’s support rally for Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode along the Ikorodu road had culminated at the government house in Ikeja to drum up support for the candidacy of the incumbent.
