The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 70yrs old man, Gabriel Akindele for defiling an 8year old deaf and dumb girl at No. 7, Michael Ayegusi Street, Owode Ijako in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government area of Ogun State.
The suspect was arrested following a complaint from the girl’s mother who noticed an unusual behavior from the girl. The mother was said to have used sign language to inquire what the problem was from her daughter, prompting the girl to narrate what transpired between the old man and her. The mother, realizing that her daughter has been raped, went straight to the police station to report the incident.
SP Akinsola Ogunwale, the DPO Sango Ota police station where the girl’s mother went to report the matter, quickly detailed detectives to visit the randy old man who was immediately arrested.
On interrogation, he confessed to committing the crime by luring the girl to the toilet where he unlawfully had carnal knowledge of her.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Cp Ahmed Iliyasu, upon hearing the incidence, has directed that the case transferred to Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation.
