Senatorial Campaign Organization of ex-Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the state’s Central Senatorial district, Rt.Hon Kombowei Benson has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to the state’s Taxforce on flood mitigation for onward distribution to affected flood victims in the state.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Campaign Organization, the Director-General who was also onetime Speaker of the state Assembly, Rt. Hon Tonye Isenah said due to the love for humanity his principal deemed it necessary to reach out to flood affected persons to ameliorate their sufferings.
National Wire reports that the Campaign Organization donated a truck load of food items, including bags of rice, beans and garri.
Others were, cartoons of noodles, table water as well as the donation of the sum of N200,000 (two hundred thousand naira) each to five unregistered IDPs camps located within Yenagoa, the state capital and the Zarama axis of the Yenagoa council area, respectively.
Receiving the items, Chairman of the state taxforce on flood mitigation and management, Hon. Iselema Gbaranbiri thanked the Senatorial hopeful for the kind gesture and the release of his warehouse free of charge to the committee, just as he called on other spirited individuals to do same.
He said: “Let me on behalf of his Excellency, the Governor of the state that is passionate about the feelings and plights of the people of the state graciously receive this items contain in this truck which would ameliorate the pains of affected flood victims.
“Let me also thank our senator in waiting for donating his facility, a warehouse.
“We’re calling on more people, more of our Sons and Daughters within and outside to come and compliment what government is doing.
“May the good Lord bless you and continue to promote you”.
In his remarks, the PDP Senatorial candidate, Kombowei Benson thanked his team, describing the Governor as one who has been doing so much to ensure the pains of the people are alleviated.
Benson thanked the Chairman of the taxforce on flood mitigation and management for making sure that relief materials are distributed to communities and wards, noting that himself and team deemed it necessary to also put their token into what the government and other individuals were already doing as a way of sharing in pains of impacted people and Communities.
